Whole Home Air Conditioning Installation with Six Indoor Units in Chislehurst
Portable air conditioning units can be a great short-term solution, but they’re often noisy, inefficient and only cool one room at a time. After years of moving a leaking portable unit around the house every summer, one homeowner in Chislehurst decided it was time for a permanent solution.
Having been recommended by a neighbour whose three-room air conditioning system we installed several years ago, they contacted ua at Bromley Energy to design a discreet whole-home cooling system that would provide comfort throughout the property while preserving the appearance of their home.
The result was a six-room Bosch Multi Split air conditioning installation, providing quiet, energy-efficient cooling and heating, all controlled from a smartphone.

The Brief
The property required air conditioning across six rooms, including:
- Large open-plan living room
- Five bedrooms
- Two home offices
The homeowner wanted the indoor units positioned on internal walls wherever possible to avoid visible external pipework and maintain the appearance of the property.
To make controlling the system even easier, Bosch WiFi adapters were added to every indoor unit, allowing temperatures to be adjusted remotely from anywhere using the Bosch HomeCom Easy app.
The System We Designed
After surveying the property, we specified two Bosch Multi Split outdoor units combined with Bosch Climate 3200 wall-mounted indoor units.
System One
- Bosch 5000 Multi Split Outdoor Unit (7.9kW)
- Three x Bosch Climate 3200 indoor units (2.6kW)
- All indoor units mounted on internal walls
- Condensate pumps fitted to each unit
System Two
- Bosch 5000 Multi Split Outdoor Unit (10.5kW)
- Two x Bosch Climate 3200 indoor units (2.6kW)
- One x Bosch Climate 3200 indoor unit (5.3kW)
One room required a condensate pump, while the remaining two indoor units were installed on external walls, allowing gravity drainage.
By splitting the property across two independent systems, the homeowner benefits from excellent efficiency, flexible room-by-room temperature control and quieter day-to-day operation.
The Installation
The installation was completed over five days by one of our engineers and apprentice, with our electrician joining the project for two days to complete the electrical work.
One of the outdoor condensers was installed on a flat roof.
Rather than placing the unit directly onto the roof covering, we wall-mounted it securely onto the building. This approach keeps the roof clear, protects the roofing membrane and makes any future roof maintenance or replacement significantly easier.
The most technically demanding part of the installation was routing services through the loft space. Although there was sufficient access, the loft contained extensive timber strutting which made navigation particularly challenging.
To keep everything neat and fully protected, all refrigeration pipework, power cables, communication cables and condensate drains were installed within basket tray throughout the loft space, creating a tidy, accessible and compliant installation.
As with every Bromley Energy air conditioning and heat pump installation, we also installed a dedicated electrical sub-board, providing both outdoor systems with their own safe, isolated electrical supply.
The Finished Result
The homeowner now enjoys quiet, efficient climate control throughout six rooms of their Chislehurst home.
Instead of relying on a noisy portable air conditioning unit that needed moving from room to room, every living space now has its own dedicated indoor unit delivering fast cooling during the summer and efficient heating throughout the colder months.
Using the Bosch HomeCom Easy app, the entire system can be controlled remotely, whether they’re relaxing downstairs, working from home or away on holiday.
The installation also preserves the appearance of the property, with carefully planned pipe routes and discreet positioning ensuring the finished result looks as good as it performs.
